From my experience, communication with the store can tell you a lot. The main things I look at for glasses are frame weight, hinge quality and lens coating. Each material has advantages and disadvantages depending on season and activity.

Each material has advantages and disadvantages depending on season and activity. Many times I avoided a bad purchase just by reading a few careful comments. Good stitching usually means the item will not fall apart after one or two washes. If a deal looks too good to be true, it usually has some kind of catch. Personally I like a mix of design, comfort and realistic pricing. Sometimes I do not mind waiting longer if the price is fair and the quality is solid.
